How to enter

  1. First, measure your site. Paste your link in the field above while entries are open. Each site's latest measurement since the opening is the one that counts: if you measured it before, measure it again.
  2. Then, I check the top 10. When it closes, I look by hand at the first ten of each list: it has to be a real site with an owner. I pick the two winners from among them: the ones that stand to gain the most from an audit.
  3. Finally, they win an audit. The site with the highest slop and the one with the lowest each get a full audit, free, the same one you can buy on the site.
Terms and conditions
  1. Who runs it. I run the Slop Awards, Ignacio Prados, under the Anti Web Slop brand, from Argentina. Entry is free and no purchase is needed. This isn't a sweepstakes: there's no chance involved, I pick the winners.
  2. Who's in. Every site measured with the Slop Score between an edition's opening and closing is in. I post the dates and times (Argentina, UTC−3) on this page. The latest measurement of each domain in that window counts. Whoever measures a site doesn't have to own it. Whoever gets the prize does. Big brands' sites, like nike.com, aren't in: whoever measures them doesn't own them.
  3. What I show and what it means. The leaderboard and the slop wall show the domain, a small screenshot of the home page and the score. A program calculates the score from signals visible on the page. It's an estimate of how closely a site matches common patterns of AI-made design. It doesn't say who built the site or with what, and it doesn't judge the business, its products or the people behind it. It can be wrong.
  4. What's excluded. These sites can't win, and I take them off the leaderboard and the wall as soon as I see them:
    • sites that are offline;
    • sites with adult, violent, illegal or deceptive content, or that try to steal data;
    • sites that show the scanner something different from what people see, or that were rigged to change their score;
    • Anti Web Slop's own sites, my clients' sites from the last 12 months and my relatives' sites.
  5. How I pick. When the edition closes, I review the ten sites on each list by hand. I don't reward the worst or the best site: on each list, I pick the one that stands to gain the most from an audit. For the highest slop, the one my changes can move the furthest. For the lowest slop, not the one that's already best made, but one with little slop where I see room to improve. I look at the score, hierarchy, type, color and how much the site can grow. My decision is final. If no site meets these rules, nobody wins that category.
  6. The prize. There's one prize per category: a full audit, the same one I sell on the site. Its reference value is its listed price on the closing day. The owner has 90 days from accepting it to redeem it. It can't be exchanged for cash or moved to another site.
  7. How I deliver the prize. I email the address used for the measurement, if there is one, and the site's contact address. To get the prize, the owner has to:
    • prove the site is theirs, for example with a DNS record or a file on the domain that I specify;
    • be of legal age, or represent the company that owns it.

    If they don't reply or can't prove ownership within 30 days, the prize goes to the next site on the same list, picked by the same criteria. Accepting the prize means accepting these rules.

  8. What I announce. I announce the lowest-slop winner on this page and on Anti Web Slop's social accounts. I name the highest-slop winner only if the owner agrees; otherwise I talk about the prize without naming the site. I show the audit's before and after only with the owner's permission.
  9. Changes and cancellation. I can fix mistakes in these rules by posting the change on this page. A change that works against entrants doesn't apply to an open edition. I only cancel an edition for reasons outside my control, and if I do, I'll say so here and explain why.
  10. Removing a site. If a site is yours and you don't want it shown, email me at igna@antiwebslop.com. Within 3 business days I take it off the leaderboard and the wall and delete its screenshot, and it won't be shown again even if someone measures it later. It's free, and you don't need to give a reason.
  11. Data. For each measurement I keep the URL, domain, score and screenshot, plus the email address if the person measuring leaves one. I use them to show the result, build the wall and the leaderboard, and contact the winners. Email addresses are never published, and I won't email you anything else unless you ask. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at igna@antiwebslop.com. More in the privacy policy.
  12. Liability. The Slop Score and the prizes are provided as is. I'm not responsible for scanner errors, site outages or decisions anyone makes based on a score. Nothing here limits your rights under the law where you live.
  13. Law and courts. These rules are governed by Argentine law. Any dispute goes to the ordinary courts where I'm domiciled in Argentina, unless the law where you live lets you bring a claim there. These rules don't apply where the law bans this contest or requires a registration I haven't made (for example, in Quebec).
